...Empowering women and families to find vision and purpose
for their lives through education, advocacy and support.

about us

Prompted by a dream to step out of the boat, Nina Carter Stum founded Women of Vision and Purpose (WVP) in 2006. WVP is a 501c(3) organization committed to empowering women who have been victimized by physical, sexual or emotional abuse.

A shining example of a Woman of Vision and Purpose, Nina continues to fulfill her God given destiny. A survivor of abuse herself, she knows how debilitating abuse can be. Through a strong faith in God she continues to move beyond the darkness, depression and despair of her pain into a place of power, peace and service. Nina’s mission for WVP is to empower and equip women to move beyond the victimization of their past pain, develop a clear vision and begin to prosper in their purpose. Nina diligently works to fulfill the WVP through education, advocacy, and community support.

Earning a B.S. in Political Science from Kennesaw University in Kennesaw, Georgia, Nina is currently enrolled in a graduate program in Education at the University of Louisville. Nina’s passion for hurting people in the community has prompted her to previously become a volunteer educator at the New Beginning Transitional Home for women. She also serves as a Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) volunteer teaching the importance of non-violence to third graders through SPAVA, the Society for the Prevention of Aggression and Violence Amongst Adolescents.

A breast cancer survivor, Nina has also worked with educating women about breast cancer issues through the Kentucky Cancer Program. She has volunteered in several capacities with the American Cancer Society, one position being the 2007 Advocacy Chair for the West Louisville Relay for Life.

Nina has the heart of a servant and a missionary. Her work through Women of Vision and Purpose is teaching other women about the healing power of God through service to others throughout the community. Her goal is to spend the rest of her life building a bridge of support to those who lack the resources they need to have a more fulfilling life.

Nina firmly believes that healed people can help heal people. Her prayer is that everyone will eventually be restored from the negative ramifications of abuse such as low self esteem, chemical dependency and unfulfilled goals.

Nina declares, “Now is the time for us to wake up from our sleep, persistently pursue our God-given vision, and diligently live out our God ordained purpose, because someone’s life is depending on it, including your own!”

It is time to be a Woman of Vision and Purpose!
